Tiger Sharks is a competitive swim team that is part of Merced county Recreation.
We serve girls and boys ages 4-18 years old. Our season runs from May until the end of July.
Sign ups this year are being held at Los Banos Elementary inside the school cafeteria located on J Street. Sign up dates are Saturday March 16th from 12pm-4pm and Wednesday April 3rd from 4pm-7pm. A copy of your child's birth certificate is required at time of sign up.
This will be Coach Steven and Izzy's 2nd year coaching for Tiger Sharks. This is Taylor's first year as Assistant coach but she has swam for Tiger Sharks and has been a junior coach in years past. The coaches knowledge and love for coaching shows through as they work together with our Junior Coaches and high school volunteers, teaching the skills needed to become a great swimmer in all strokes.
Swim meets typically take about 5-6 hours when there are only 2 teams participating. Invitationals and Championship days can run up to 9 hours depending on what events (strokes) your child is swimming. We ask that every swimmer checks in with a coach an hour and a half before swim meets. If not, your child will be scratched from the entire swim meet.
Swim meets can get very warm, so please bring shade for your family. Most families bring a pop-up a canopy with chairs and blankets, ice chest with water, fruit, and healthy lunch items. Typically there are snack bars at every meet but they are not guaranteed. Sunscreen with SPF of 30+ should be applied every 2 to 3 hours to prevent sunburn. It is important to stay hydrated so bringing water with electrolytes is recommended.
