Tiger Sharks is a COMPETITIVE age group summer swim team that is a part of Merced County Recreation.
We serve all children ages 4-18 years old.
Our season runs from April until the end of July.
My name is Vanessa Sequeira. I am 34 years old, work in education, and really excited to get back into a passion that I had growing up... swimming! I started swimming at the age of 8 years old for Firebaugh FAST, then Dos Palos Dolphins, and DPHS. I previous was a coach for Dos Palos and Firebaugh.
I decided I am in place in life where I am ready to take on this fun adventure of coaching again, and introducing my own children to the world of competitive swimming.
Coaching comes with multiple responsibilities, dedication, and I can’t wait to see the outcome this season as your head coach.
My name is Steven Baughman and I have been swimming and playing water polo my entire life. I have coached boys and girls water polo and swimming for 10+ years. I am excited to share my love of swimming with the team as well as my own kids who are now Tiger Sharks.
Each swimmer is required to participate in 4 meets to qualify to participate in the Championship meet at the end of season.
If a swimmer is not attending a meet, they are expected to notify the coaching staff at least one week in advance.
Swimming is a TEAM sport with individual events. Because of this, all swimmers are expected to remain at the meet for the entire duration of the meet regardless of the events that they are participating in.
Night meets usually last between 2 and 3 hours. Swimmers are required to check in approximately 1 hour prior to start of meet.
Weekend meets usually last between 5 and 6 hours. Swimmers are required to check in approximately 1-2 hours before the start of the meet.
Inivatational Meets are one day meets with all teams in the league.
Championship Meet is at the end of the season.
The Championship meet is a two day meet.
Swimmers will first swim a prelim to qualify for finals in all indvidual events.
Each day of the Championship meet lasts roughly 10 hours. All swimmers are expected to attend the entirety of the meet.
The finalists will receive medals for top 3 and ribbons for 4-8. High point winners will receive trophies, as well as the top 3 teams.
